(2025-26 NCAA Division I Basketball Tournament Qualifier)
at SMU’s Crum Basketball Center!

Space is limited to 30 participants (basketball drills) per session. Relatives of Club members (children, grandchildren, nephews, nieces, etc.) are invited to participate. Adults (no limit) are welcome to stay, watch and participate in the Q&A with the players.

This event promotes Italian culture. The SMU Men’s team is travelling to Italy in August to play exhibition games in Rome and Sorrento. Included in the clinic drills they will be teaching to the participants will be an emphasis on the differences between the American and European style of play.
Feedback from the Club survey earlier this Spring indicated we should hold more events involving children/families. This event offers the unique opportunity for children to learn basketball skills from Division I players. Adults can participate in the Q&A session with the players to gain insights into what’s involved in being a student-athlete at the NCAA Division I level.

Join Us August 5th for the Summer Opera at Cinemark!
It doesn’t get hotter than August in Texas, so let’s stay in the air conditioning and enjoy one of opera’s most iconic works, Giuseppe Verdi’s “Aida”! Cinemark Theaters feature performances from New York’s Metropolitan Opera as part of their Summer Encore series, and it won’t get more powerful than this 2025 performance by soprano Angel Blue in the title role of the captive Ethiopian princess who has a forbidden love affair with Radames, an Egyptian military commander who is betrothed to Amneris, daughter of the king.
Plan to meet other ICD attendees at the Cinemark West Plano (3800 Dallas Parkway, Plano) for the 6:00 p.m. screening on Wednesday, August 5. Pre-purchase your tickets at Cinemark.com, and be sure to indicate the correct theater and show time.
Anyone who would like to enjoy a pre-show appetizer and glass of wine can gather at 4:30 at 60 Vines (3701 Dallas Parkway), just across the Dallas North Tollway from the movie theater.

Olive Oil & Balsamic Vinegar Tasting!
Join us for Brunch after the Tasting
Grapevine Olive Oil Co. & Napoli’s Italian Kitchen & Market
The Grapevine Olive Oil Company will do the private presentation and tasting for ICD Members prior to opening for the day. We will have a 30 minute olive oil and balsamic vinegar tasting, followed by brunch at Napoli’s Italian Kitchen & Market (across the street). Enjoy an education about local production of a familiar Italian product. While none of the oils are of Italian origin, many of the balsamics are!
While the tasting is a no-cost event, please RSVP for Grapevine Olive Oil’s tasting preparation purposes. This is a private event so we want to make sure there’s enough for everyone.

Come join the Italian Literature Book Club. Offering both English and Italian language books. The club meets once a month and explores different contemporary literature types and genres in both long-form and short-form readings.
